First read this: Let’s own up to our part in the burst bubble.

Now read my comment:

Far to little, far too late, Vincent. As an Australian who spent a year in Ireland during the latter part of 2009 and early 2010 I was absolutely appalled at the media’s complete inability to do what it should be mandated to do…ask questions, represent the people, hold politicians and organisations to account, use those contacts and that access to get answers. I cannot express how much the Irish media’s ability to act the lap-dog affected me during my time there, and influenced the decision my Irish husband and I made to leave. Saying you could not see it coming is arrogant to say the least. It means you were not doing your job. It means you let down the people and believed your own lies and the lies you were fed by the government and banking industry’s PR spin doctors. There is no Tiger, and truth be told there never was. It was all borrowed time and credit, but you convinced the common man. You convinced yourselves. Who are the gatekeepers for Ireland, Vincent? It certainly is not the media, and you should not be rewarded for ‘owning up’ now.

…see you in Aus!

Here is what Mister Stephen Fry had to say at an Intelligence Squared event.

Below is a list of our fabulous vendors who are most deserved of the compliments we heard throughout our wedding day. For us, our wedding day was about our personalities and the intimate celebration with our families and friends. and these people helped us achieve just that. Short but sweet, small and intimate, fun but meaningful was what our day was about. Stress free (for the most part) due to the professionals we worked with to make our day the best it could be. And for that we are grateful.
